Final Thoughts

The ending to this book was pretty good the author decided to throw in one last twist that leads into the next book. Near the end of the book when Percy returns back to Half-Blood camp and is faced with another decission, whether he is going to stay at the camp or go home and live with his mom. Percy had only a couple of days to decide what he was goin to do, Percy was so stressed about the decission he had to make, he just wanted to clear his head so he went down to the sword fighting area. When he got down there Luke was already practicing, Luke asked Percy if he wanted to go into the forest and see if they could find some real monster to fight, when they got out into the forest Luke started to tell Percy about how he believed that the gods were living in the past, in there glory days and how they were trying to relive those days by sending hero's on similar quests. Luke was angry that he was sent on a quest knowing that a hero already completed the quest, Percy started to catch on were Luke was going with this story so he cut in told Luke that he knew that it was him who stole Zeus's master bolt and Hades helm of darkness. Luke wasn't suprised that Percy caught on so he used magic and summoned a pit scorpion (a pit scorpion is extremely posionous and can kill you within two minutes) the scorpion crawled up Percy's leg and stung him. Luke left Percy in the forest and dissapeared, Percy walked out of the forest as far as he could then droped to his knees. Annabeth noticed Percy and rushed over, Percy was passed out by the time she arrived.

A soon as Percy woak up he went to go talk to Chronos about Luke, the book ends with Chronos telling Percy that Zeus has closed the discussion on any matter that deals with Luke or gods changing sides.

Overall I enjoyed the book and I would recommend this book to anybody between the age 12-18 an for anybody who likes Greek mythology and adventure.

The biggest problem that the main character Percy is faced with is working together with Annabeth. Percy and Annabeth are faced with multiple conflicts with various monster throughout the novel, but because they have a problem with working together they almost get each other killed.

During the book so far Percy and Annabeth haven't been dealing with there problem of working together. They finally realize there problem when they are set up by Ares the God of war, he sends Percy, Grover, and Annabeth to an old abandon water park. Ares sent them to this water park to recover his shield, he left his shield in the tunnel of love.
Not knowing that this was a trap Percy and Annabeth walked into the tunnel of love while Grover stayed outside and keeped a look out. When Percy picked up the shield the gates to the ride closed and the cupid stautues at the beginning of the ride turned and shot arrows with extremely fine threads on the end, making a web. T.V. screens light up with numbers showing...5.4.3.2.1.. Then it turned into a live feed straight to olympus, then hundreds of little mechanical spiders came pouring out of the old water pipes. Percy and Annabeth jumped into the boat and yelled at Grover to go to the control room and turn the ride on, the controls where broken so it was up to Percy and Annabeth to finally work together and get out the trap. Percy used his power to control water and turned on all the water pipes to the ride, Percy and Annabeth jumped into the boat and followed the ride out to the bottom. When they got to the bottom of the ride they were faced with another problem, the fence was closed and Percy couldn't stop the water they were going to fast. Annabeth told Percy that they could jump the fence with the force of the water, on the count of three Percy and Annabeth jumped over the fence and were now heading straight for the ground, when Grover grabbed them out of the air with hid flying shoes.

Reflection #2 (Characters)

The main character in this book is Percy Jackson is a thirteen year old boy who has been kicked out of six schools in six years for reasons that he doesn't understand, he recently got kicked out of Yancy Academy. Percy was told that he was allowed to stay at the school until summer break which was only about a week later.

Percy has always had bad luck in staying out of trouble, he is the kind of kid that is in the wrong place at the wrong time. Percy deals with these kinds of situations by pretending like they never happened, as if he was dreaming.

Throughout the book Percy has had many different oppsticles that he has had to face, one of the biggest oppsticle that he faced was when he found out that poseidon was his father, Percy reaction to finding out that his father was posiedon was shocking to him at first but then he kinda went into a daze, back to him thinking that he was dreaming. When Percy realized that he wasn't dreaming and saw the symbol of Posiedon over his head he wanted to know why Posiedon waited until now to show him that he was his son and why his mom never told him about Posiedon.

This book starts off by telling you a bit about Percy Jackson, how he has been kicked out of six schools in six years and how he is currently attending Yancy Academy. While Percy was attending Yancy he met a new friend named Grover, who helps Percy on his journey throughout the book, because he is half goat and half human. Percy finds this out later on in the book when he is sent to Camp Half Blood, Camp Half Blood is a camp for demigods.(demigods are the offspring off gods and they are half human, half god) While attending Camp Half Blood Percy was taking part in a game they play called capture the flag. In this game there is two opposing teams going for one objective, capture the opposing team's flag using either your powers or your sword and shield while keeping your own team's flag safe. Percy was told to guard the creek and make sure that nobody passed by and retrieved the flag. While Percy was guarding the creek one Clarisse and five other Ares warriors charged towards him, they surrounded Percy Clarisse stepped forward and attacked Percy with her electric barbed spear, she shocked Percy with her spear and he became dizzy- warm and cold all at the same time. Clarisse kicked Percy into the water, soon as Percy landed in the water he immediately felt better and seemed to wake up his senses. Clarisse and the other Ares warriors stepped into the creek to finish off Percy, but Percy stood up and started to swing at the other Ares cabin mates and took them out one by one until Clarisse was the only one left. Clarisse lunged her spear towards Percy, Percy step to the side and swung his sword at her spear and shattered it in half. Clarisse was extremely mad, put Percy wasn't paying attention because behind her Luke came running down with the other teams flag and crossed the line winning the game. While every body was celebrating a vicious monster called a hellhound came charging towards Percy and tackled him, the hellhound started to scratch Percy. Suddenly the hellhound fell over, Percy looked over and saw Chiron one of the camp directors with a bow in his hands, Percy was bleeding a lot and could hardly move. Annabeth yelled at Percy and told him to get into the water, Percy managed to make his way into the water, as soon as he reached the water he felt better and cuts seemed to magically go away. The camp went silent and every body starred at Percy, above Percy head was a green trident. Percy ask what was happening Chiron one of the camp directors told Percy that it was a sign of Poseidon, it was Poseidon telling every body that Percy was his son.

Percy Jackson went on a school trip with his school, Yancy Academy to the Museum of Art to look at ancient Greek and Roman statues. During this trip Percy was pulled aside by Mrs. Dodds to talk to him about pushing Nancy Bobofit into the fountain, little did Percy know that Mrs. Dodds was actually a mythical Greek monster trying to kill him.
